In short:

We partnered with the University of Melbourne and Swinburne University of Technology to undertake a seroes systematic reviews to build the evidence base on strategies to increase gender equality in the public sector.

Project overview

Promoting workplace gender equality is a central topic of academic and policy debate. One obstacle is a lack of evidence-based resources for decision-makers; the second is the lack of discussion on the effectiveness of strategies.

We partnered with the University of Melbourne and Swinburne University of Technology to address these obstacles by conducting a series of systematic reviews to build the evidence base on strategies to increase gender equality in the public sector.

This project addressed these obstacles by bringing together research on five key areas:

  1. Anonymous application procedures
  2. Fathers’ use of parental leave and flexible work arrangements
  3. Tackling sexual harassment in the public sector
  4. Information-based approaches to achieving gender pay equity
  5. The effectiveness of gender targets and quotas in leadership roles
