Ligia Carolina Oliveira-Silva is an Associate Professor of Work and Social Psychology at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU) in Brazil and a Visiting Fellow at the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at the Australian National University.
Her research focuses on intersectionality in workplaces, exploring how gender, race, and socio-economic factors shape barriers and opportunities for underrepresented groups. Ligia’s work is rooted in applied psychology, integrating grassroots and decolonial approaches to analyse leadership development, entrepreneurship, career barriers in STEM fields and mental health of women. She leads projects that investigate the work experiences of marginalised women around the world but especially in Brazil, with a focus on the co-creation of evidence-based interventions for gender equity.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, she aims to use academic research as a catalyst for systemic change and collective action by engaging with organisations, government agents and local communities.
