Not Now, Not Ever
Ten years on from the misogyny speech
On 9 October 2012, Australia's first female Prime Minister – and now GIWL Chair – Julia Gillard stood in Parliament House and delivered one of the most impassioned and iconic speeches in the history of our nation's politics. The “misogyny speech” reverberated around the world and continues to inspire and challenge us to call out sexism and misogyny in every field to this day.
Published 10 years on from the speech that stopped us all in our tracks, this collection asks how far we've come and what still needs to change.
With contributions from Jess Hill, Jennifer Palmieri, Cate Blanchett, Katharine Murphy, Chanel Contos and many more, Julia Gillard explores the history and culture of misogyny, the patriarchy’s toolbox, intersectionality, and gender and misogyny in the media and politics.
Proceeds from the book go directly to GIWL to support our research and advocacy work.
