The recent Australian federal election demonstrated the power of women voters, with women less likely than men to vote for the outgoing Coalition government. In the UK, attention paid to women voters is often sporadic and marginal. Yet, in both the UK and Australia, the gender gap is widening, women have borne the brunt of the COVID pandemic both at home and as frontline workers, and frustration is growing.

We are excited to be hosting Rosie Campbell, Professor of Politics and Director of our sister institute, the Global Institute for Women’s Leadership at King’s College, London in Canberra for this special event. Professor Campbell will be joined by a panel of experts to reflect on the role of women voters in both Australia and the UK discussing whether political parties need to take women voters more seriously in order to succeed, what women want from their political representatives and whether a new female PM in the UK help win over women voters ahead of the 2024 election.
